His father. He has taught Rafe everything he knows. Nick had Rafe in the back yard at 18 months hitting off the tee. He started throwing a ball with him before that. Nick takes him outside everyday after school, after a long long day of work, weather permitted, for even just 15 mins just to get his hands on the ball. Rafe looks for his approval during games and practice. If Nick wasn’t here Rafe would not have the love for the game like he has.
Rafe played with a team from Texas in the Gold Coast World Series, we live in Delaware. He was playing catcher, the batter from the other team ran into Rafe HARD! on purpose, and rafe slammed his head on the ground, he had to come out for the rest of the inning. Next inning rafe was 3rd or 4th at bat, refused to sit out of the game, he got up to the plate, hit a double and brought in 2 runs. He didn’t let that kid take him out and showed him “you can’t hurt me” without using words or fists.
