My son has a true devotion to football. His first year of playing was in 2025 at only 6 years old and he took on the season like a champ.
Thank you for supporting Ricky in this competition. Your participation made a huge impact for the Why Not You Foundation and their mission to empower change in the world, one individual at a time and one child at a time.
What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreRicky loves the overall culture of football. He loves to suit up. He loves to play, he loves to interact with him teammates, and he loves the challenge it brings. He is always striving to be better or learn something new. He also loves to throw. He is currently only seven years old, but he has a nice arm on him. This is only his second year of football, but he’s played QB both seasons and he loves it.
I believe ricky is inspired by a couple of people. Off the field I would say his biggest exemplar is his dad and myself, his mom. We are his biggest supporters and we give him that balance of toughness and comfort. Dad works with him heavily on his throws and keeps him disciplined on the field. On the field, I would say his big cousin Alijah Vera-Tucker who currently plays for the New England Patriots. He gets excited when he see’s him play. It reassures him that anything is possible.
The moments that make me the proudest is when he looks to me in the stands after making a nice play. I get emotional just thinking about it. I love him.
