His main sport is football but tore his ACL so is learning what it means to lead from the sidelines and prepare when no one is watching.
Thank you for supporting Ross in this competition. Your participation made a huge impact for the Why Not You Foundation and their mission to empower change in the world, one individual at a time and one child at a time.
What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreGoing all out; leaving nothing on the field. He loves competing alongside others who care and have total fire. He loves playing against others better than him and working with his teammates to be successful. He loves the buildup and preparation but lives to compete at the highest level possible. And he loves the rawness and honesty he experiences with his team. He LOVES to PLAY!
His first football coach, Jeff, who sees Ross’ strengths but also sees the strengths of each teammate and placed each in his best role. And DK Metcalf because he was often doubted, yet continued to work hard and overcome. Ross was really moved by DK drafting call with the Seahawks. In that call, DK showed overwhelming gratitude to finally being seen and being given the chance to prove his value.
Overcoming his ACL injury and continuing to push through to be ready for football this fall. Ross puts a lot of work in off the field but he also does so with someone who also wants to improve. He works with that friend to BOTH get better. He always gives 110%. My favorite moments were when a coach looked him straight in the eye, asked him to deliver something really difficult, and Ross delivered.
