What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Saniyah loves playing volleyball because it challenges her to grow, compete, and push past her limits. She enjoys the energy of the game, being part of a team, and the feeling of making a great play after working hard in practice. Volleyball has taught her confidence, discipline, resilience, and how to keep going even when things don’t go her way.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

My mom is my greatest inspiration. I’ve watched her overcome cancer, loss, and some of life’s hardest moments while still making sure our family never went without love or support. As a single mother, she has sacrificed so much so I could chase my dreams, especially in volleyball. She taught me that strength is continuing even when life gives you every reason to stop. Her resilience, compassion, and determination inspire me to work hard, overcome obstacles, and make every opportunity count.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

The moment I was proudest of Saniyah wasn’t when she won a game or received an offer. It was watching her continue to show up when volleyball became difficult. She experienced disappointment, limited playing time, and moments that made her question herself, but she kept working. She trained, improved, and refused to let anyone else determine her worth. Watching her choose perseverance over giving up made me prouder than any statistic, medal, or offer ever could.
