Her sport gives her a sense of freedom and allows her to express herself in a way that is uniquely her own. It has become more than just an activity—it is her safe space, where she can be confident, creative, and truly be herself. She has shown dedication, perseverance, and a passion that inspires everyone around her.
Misty Copeland is who inspires Sanova, both on and off the stage. Miss Copeland inspires her to be the best dancer she can be, to work hard, and most importantly, to believe in herself. Seeing a successful Black woman in ballet reminds her that she belongs in this space and that she can dream big and accomplish anything she sets her mind to.
Every year, Nova sets goals for herself, whether it’s attending a convention, auditioning for, or being accepted into a summer intensive. She puts her heart, dedication, and hard work into every goal she sets, and watching her accomplish those goals is what makes me proudest. She continues to push herself, believe in herself, and grow not only as a dancer, but as a young girl with big dreams and an incredible passion for dance.
