What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Santiago loves the challenge of golf and the opportunity to compete, improve, and learn. He has competed in six world golf tournaments for kids and tournaments in different countries, experiences that have taught him to stay focused, handle pressure, and respect every opponent. He also loves basketball and baseball because sports give him a chance to work hard, have fun, and keep pushing himself to become better.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Santiago is inspired by LeBron James because he faced enormous expectations from a young age. Many people doubted whether he could live up to the hype, but he used that pressure as motivation and worked to become one of the greatest. Santiago admires his confidence, perseverance, and ability to turn pressure into motivation. He wants to approach his own challenges with that same mindset—believing in himself, working hard, and always striving to be better.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

I am incredibly proud of Santiago. Competing in a tournament abroad brought challenges beyond the competition itself—unfamiliar weather, different food, a new time zone, and a different routine. Even when things didn’t go as planned and frustration set in, he chose not to let it define his experience. As parents, we emphasize that resilience, emotional intelligence, and a positive attitude matter as much as results. Watching him live those values in a challenging moment made us especially proud.
