He practices his stance, takes a deep breath, and throws each pitch with all his heart. Whether he strikes someone out or learns from a tough hit, he is ready to give it his all. Baseball is more than a game to him; it is where he feels proud, strong, and excited to grow.
Sawyer is inspired by Parker Byrd because he shows that a prosthetic does not stop someone from chasing a dream. Parker's courage, hard work, and love for baseball inspire Sawyer to keep trying when things feel difficult. Seeing Parker okay reminds him that being different can be a strength and that determination matters more than setbacks.
I don't have a specific moment–my proudest part of his sports journey has been watching him be fearless. No matter the score, opponent, or pressure, he gives his all and never backs down. Seeing his courage, confidence, and determination grow means more to me than any win or trophy.
