What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

The experience gained traveling across the country. He has been honored with the opportunity to play at high national academy level and guest play for many other teams. He has also recently discovered street ball in addition to traditional soccer and it reenergized his passion for the game. Recently, he had the opportunity to compete for a spot at Toma on the Nike team and was selected as 1 of the 20 boys from across the country to train at the new National Training Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

From age 9 to 12 he had a very influential coach (Ade Taiwo). This coach worked with him not only to create a great player but more so a great person. He has not only been a great coach but him and his family have become great friends. He has since moved on from the youth teams and now coaches at the college level. However, he is always in contact with Scott and whenever Scott has decisions regarding the sport to make, Ade is always the one he trusts to give honest unbiased feedback.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

When Scott was 6 years old he was diagnosed as a Type 1 Diabetic. During a routine wellness visit his blood sugar was found so high that the doctor immediately sent us to the hospital where he was immediately admitted. On the third day of his admission he asked his mother and I if he could go home today because his club team had a game and he did not want to let them down. Long story short, he was released from the hospital and asked to be driven straight to the pitch where his team was playing.
