What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

What Shelby loves most about cheer is the feeling of being part of a team and having something she can pour her whole heart into. She loves learning new skills, pushing herself past what she thought she could do, performing, and celebrating her teammates. Cheer challenges her physically and mentally, but most of all, it gives her a place to be herself, build confidence, and grow. She doesn’t just love cheer—she truly loves being a cheerleader.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Shelby is inspired most by the people who believe in her, especially her family and coaches. Her teammates inspire her to work harder and never give up, while her coaches push her to become stronger and more confident. Off the mat, her biggest inspiration is her family. They remind her that hard work, kindness, and perseverance matter just as much as winning. She wants to make the people who support her proud while becoming the best version of herself.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

The moments that make me proudest aren’t always when Shelby wins. They’re when I watch her struggle, get frustrated, wipe away the tears, and try again anyway. Seeing her walk back onto the mat after something doesn’t go right and give it everything she has reminds me how strong she is. Watching her confidence grow through cheer has been one of the greatest joys of being her mom.
