Simone definitely loves the thrill of the win. Intense competitor. She’s broken her wrist to make the play on the volleyball court. Countless injuries on the field to make the out. She loves the energy when her team is synced and pouring their heart into it. She always has great bonds with her teammates especially when they all share that passion.
Simone comes from a long line of athletes. Her father and uncle both played baseball at a professional level. But it’s the man who raised them, her grandfather, that inspires her most. He’s from Queens. Vietnam veteran. At 75 with his cane at every practice. At every game. He never lets her get down or give up. He’s patient. When the coaches let him he will be on field giving pointers to all players. He’s knows her teammates by name and probably all their parents names. This is his love language
Simone’s drive for excellence makes me most proud. When it’s hard and defeating she digs deeper and just won’t give up. It’s incredible to watch a 17 year old with that much character. She’s also a great solution provider. She thinks through the issues and solves the problem. She’s a natural leader. That makes me most proud because I know how well it will serve in life.
