Sofie

What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

She loves being part of a team, where she brings so much energy and positivity. Year after year she hears from coaches what a positive impact she has on her teammates. She loves getting her blood pumping and competing, while giving good energy to her team and even opponents! She loves to stay active, finding joy in running, pickleball, Pilates, yoga and other physical activities along with her competitive sports.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Her grandmother was captain of her basketball and volleyball team abroad and was chosen to play with the national team. At the time and with a conservative family, women weren’t always looked at positively in sports and she wasn’t allowed to pursue that dream. This helped Sofie appreciate the freedom she has to play and pursue the sports she loves. Her sense of gratitude and positivity helps her and her team.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

She brings 100% to her sport. From getting there early, no matter the time, to giving it her all when she’s there. Her attitude and dedication let to her being hired by her basketball coach to assist with a basketball camp for teens this summer. She brought the same discipline, energy and care to working with the kids as when she plays herself. It was a rewarding experience for her and one we are very proud of.
