Summer loves the feeling of learning something she couldn’t do before. She will work on a trick over and over, fall, get frustrated and go right back to try again. She loves the freedom of snowboarding, being outside, riding with her friends and seeing how far she can push herself. the best part isn’t winning it’s finally landing something she’s worked sooo hard for.
A few people inspire me My best friends Avery and Jace because we’re always active, having fun and pushing each other to be better. My stepdad has snowboarded for 30 years and has taught me the most. He is basically my main snowboard and mindset coach! I also look up to Jamie Anderson because she came back after having kids and competed at X games again, and Scotty James because he worked so hard and made the Olympics when he was only 15
watching Summer struggle with something, get frustrated or scared, and still choose to try again. I’ve watched her spend hours working on a single trick when it would have been much easier to quit. When she finally lands it, the look on her face says everything. Her determination has taught me that success isn’t always winning it’s refusing to give up on yourself.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
