Taya

What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Hi, my name is Taya Tiller and what I love most about playing softball is being able to showcase my abilities. Such as, being able to turn around left handed to either bunt or slap the ball and show off my speed down the first base line. Also, I love batting right handed, especially when runners are in scoring position. Besides hitting, I really enjoy stealing bases and causing chaos. I also like enjoy being a part of a team, cheering and supporting my teammates is a lot of fun.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

First of all, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who has given me the strength to use the talents he has blessed me with. It is truly a gift. Also, my dad inspires me each day by teaching me that by doing the little things right makes the bigger things easier.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Being a dad and her coach has both been the hardest but most rewarding part of my life. Watching her fail and being judged has been hard but seeing her learn from those experiences and overcome those challenges has been the greatest reward. She once came to me in the dugout and told me to sub her out and put one of her teammates in that hasn’t been in the game yet to play which was an act of true leadership and selflessness.
