What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreTrice loves the competition, the challenge of getting better, and the relationships basketball has created for him. He enjoys having the ball in his hands, making plays for teammates, and competing against the best players he can find. More than anything, basketball gives him a place to grow in confidence, leadership, discipline, and teamwork.
Trice is inspired by athletes who turned hard work, discipline, and adversity into success. He studies great guards and wants to learn not only how they score, but how they lead and make teammates better. Off the court, he is inspired by his family and the people who sacrifice their time to help him chase his goals, which motivates him to make those sacrifices worthwhile.
One of my proudest moments was watching Trice play high school basketball at just 12 years old. He was competing against players several years older than him, yet he never backed down from the challenge. Seeing him step on that floor, earn minutes, and show that he belonged was special. It wasn’t just about his talent—it showed his courage, work ethic, and willingness to compete outside his comfort zone. Watching a dream we’ve worked toward since he was little become real
