What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreTristan loves the competition most, scoring, making a great play, and seeing his team win. But he also genuinely loves learning the game. He wants to know how to get better, whether that means improving his shot, defense, ball handling, or learning to play against tougher competition. Basketball gives him a place to challenge himself, have fun, and see what happens when he keeps working at something.
Tristan is inspired by Steph Curry, his favorite player and, like him, a left-handed guard. But his inspiration starts with family. His grandfather first put a basketball in his hands and helped discover he was a lefty. Since then, his dad, uncle, coaches, mentors, family and friends have all poured into him. They challenge him to work hard, stay authentic and keep growing, not only as an athlete, but as a person.
Before Tristan ever played on a team, he was a kindergartner training alongside athletes from third grade through high school. He was never intimidated. He worked hard, made friends, and found mentors in older players who are now in college playing basketball. That same confidence and work ethic have followed him to CP3 and AAU, where he has earned opportunities to move up and train with older athletes. Watching him continually rise to bigger challenges makes me incredibly proud.
