What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreTy loves everything most players overlook the grind, the discipline, and the responsibility of guarding the best player on the court. Defense is his identity. He embraces the challenge, takes pride in doing the hard things, and finds joy in helping his team win in ways that don’t always show up on the stat sheet. For Ty, basketball is about earning respect through effort, consistency, and heart.
Ty is inspired by Kevin Durant and Kobe Bryant for their relentless work ethic and commitment to mastering their craft. He studies their mindset and brings that same focus into his own routine. He’s also inspired by the people who see him in the gym at 4am those quiet moments remind him that success is built when no one is watching. More than anything, Ty is self driven he pushes himself beyond expectations every day.
3. The proudest moment isn’t a highlight it’s a habit. For the past three years, Ty has been showing up to the gym at 4am, long before anyone asks him to. During the season, he balances early workouts, school, back to back team practices, and homework repeating that cycle for months. He doesn’t pass the eye test at first, but once he steps on the court, everyone understands his value. Coaches trust him. Teammates rely on him. That quiet, relentless commitment is what makes him special.
