What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

I think what Tylen loves most about playing football is the feeling it gives him once he steps on that field. I can tell that everything else disappears and he can focus on doing something he truly enjoys. He loves the energy, the contact, making plays, and those moments when the whole team gets excited after something big happens. Football is where he has fun, competes, and gets to do something that has been a big part of his life since he was 5 years old.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

On the field, Tylen has always looked up to Aaron Donald. He has told me that Aaron Donald's mindset reminds him of his own—that talent may open doors, but hard work, discipline, and consistency is what keeps them open. Off the field, I would say me as his mom. Tylen told me on the way to one of his camps this past summer that I inspire him. Knowing that my sacrifices, encouragement, and belief in him motivate him to keep chasing his dreams is one of my greatest blessings as his mother.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One of my proudest moments throughout his athletic journey is whenever someone who has been watching Tylen takes the time to tell me about the young man they see. Coaches, teachers, and others have told me how respectful he is, how he helps people without being asked, and how he carries himself when he doesn’t know anyone is watching. As his mother, hearing others recognize his character makes me prouder than any stat, award, or accomplishment ever could.
