What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreTyler loves that sports allow him to stay active, challenge himself, meet new people, and experience new opportunities. He enjoys the competition and fun, but most importantly, he loves the way track allows hit to develop his leadership skills, build relationships, and continue becoming the best version of himself.
Tyler is inspired by Usain Bolt and Tate Taylor because of what they accomplished through hard work, discipline, and perseverance. His greatest inspiration, however, is his family. Their love, sacrifices, faith, and constant encouragement motivate him to keep pushing forward, stay grounded, and become the best athlete and young man he can be.
On 8/7/26 at the Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Tyler answered a frantic cry for help when a young man was drowning. Tyler dove to the bottom of the pool, brought David up, pulled him onto the deck, and performed CPR while directing Andre to assist and call 911. David began breathing and coughing up water before first responders arrived. At the hospital, doctors called his survival and rapid recovery a miracle—made possible by Tyler’s decisive bravery and selfless leadership under pressure.
