Vanessa loves to complete and be the very best at everything she does. She hates losing and takes it very personally when she feels she hasn't done her job, even when she has an amazing game. She is her hardest critic on and off the field.
I would say she draws her inspiration from all of her coaches. She looks to them for advice and guidance. She also respects their opinions and hurts when she feels she let them down. She also looks to them off field and they have all become other parental figures in her life.
We were in Denver, CO competing at a showcase. We played a team from MT where a lot of the girls were bigger and faster. Vanessa scored the first goal of the game which eventually led us to draw and go to penalties. Although we lost, Vanessa walked off that field with her head held high because she knew how amazing they played as underdogs. Parents from the other team came up to me and acknowledged my daughter. That made me proud.
