What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Violet loves the challenge, the competition, and being part of a team. She gets to constantly learn something new, push herself, and see herself improve. As a multi-sport athlete, she loves the different challenges each one gives her. The biggest challenge across all of them may be learning to trust her body again and believe in what she's capable of. She has gone from dealing with a serious medical setback, unable to compete or play at recess- to putting herself back into 4 competitive sports.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Cousin Chase has set an example of what it means to be successful on and off the field. He has shown her that being a great athlete & being a successful student go hand in hand. She has set her own goals high because of the example he has given her. As her wrestling coach he challenges her to work harder, push through difficult moments & become better not just as an athlete, but as a person. Vi comes to practice wanting to surpass what Chase has accomplished and he encourages her to do just that

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

The proudest moment for me was seeing the realization that she could compete in sports after overcoming Lyme disease. The look on her face and the way she rambled off sports she's going to join after getting the ok to participate. Seeing her run again without fear or pain. Everything she's accomplished since—making the All-Star team & reaching States in her first year of wrestling—has been a reminder of how far she's come. I'm endlessly proud of her drive and determination.
