What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

What Westin loves most about playing baseball is being part of a team, competing, and always having something new to work toward. He loves the challenge of getting better every day, supporting his teammates, and seeing all his hard work pay off on the field. For Westin, baseball isn’t just a sport—it’s something he truly loves and is passionate about.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Someone who inspires Westin on and off the field is his assistant coach Dave Ruiz. Westin does not have a father figure in his life and Dave has taken Westin under his wing and calls him “Pappa Dave”. Dave has taught Westin things I as his mother am not able to. If Westin isn’t with Dave at the fields he is at their house helping them with yard work and their chickens.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

August of 2025 Westin started complaining about his hip - we did all the necessary things to check it out and it came back clear. Westin played all of fall season + basketball season with this “pain” after spring season came and went Westin was unable to run. Turns out the pain was his hip out of socket. Westin has immediate surgery and all of his baseball team was in the recovery area waiting for him. Westin pushed through the pain and was the closing pitcher in the city championship.
