Wilder loves the competitiveness in both sports. Being able to compete and knowing there’s always someone better than him, makes him a better athlete. He loves that it doesn’t just depend on physicality. It’s also a mental game. His IQ in both sports have excelled over the years. He loves the friendships that he is making. Being a leader to the underclassman and helping them on and off the field is something everyone loves about him.
There is not just one person. His entire family inspires him to be the best version of himself on and off the field. He values his family’s beliefs. But, if there was one athlete it would be Troy Polamalu. He always talks about how he flys around the field and is never scared if someone is bigger than him. Wilder strives to be like him leadership wise and player wise.
That other team’s coaches and refs learned his first and last name and shakes Wilders hand every game. The level of respect on and off the field is gratifying to watch. The level of maturity when it comes to his sports career makes me feel like he truly will make it.
