What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreWillow loves the excitement of competing, challenging herself, and always finding ways to improve. But what she loves most is being part of a team—making new friends, encouraging her teammates, celebrating their successes, and having fun together. Sports give her a place to be herself, build confidence, and create friendships and memories that go far beyond the game.
Jack Hughes inspires Willow with his passion, skill and determination. Her motto has always been “never give up,” and Jack showed exactly that. Despite loosing his teeth to a high stick, he kept playing and scored the game-winning goal to bring Team USA Olympic gold. Watching that incredible moment showed Willow what it truly means to never give up.
One of our proudest moments came at the this year's Empire State Winter Games. After Willow was checked hard from behind, a teammate rushed over to defend her. Instead of letting him retaliate, Willow wrapped her arms around him, and stopped him from taking a penalty. She showed incredible sportsmanship and leadership. Throughout the rest of the tournament, she stayed positive and played her heart out, contributing goals and assists to help her team bring home the gold.
