Willy loves the speed and competitiveness of hockey. Whether he’s on the ice or playing inline, he loves challenging himself, making plays, scoring goals, and being part of a team. Most of all, he loves that there is always something new to learn and another way to get better.
My private coach, Jake Flegal, inspires me because he reminds me that hockey should always be fun. He pushes me to work hard and get better, but he also makes every lesson something I look forward to. He has taught me that becoming a better player isn’t just about skill—it’s about loving the game and enjoying the work it takes to improve.
One of my proudest moments has been watching Willy choose challenges over the easy path. He has never been intimidated by playing against older, bigger, or more experienced athletes. He steps onto the rink ready to compete, learn, and give everything he has. Seeing his confidence grow while still being a supportive teammate has made us far prouder than any trophy ever could.
