What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreXavion loves basketball because it challenges him to become better every time he steps on the court. He loves competing, learning, working with his teammates and seeing hard work turn into improvement. For him, basketball is about more than winning—it teaches discipline, perseverance, teamwork and how to keep pushing when things get difficult. Those are lessons he carries with him everywhere he goes.
Xavion is inspired by his dad, who has taught him that where you come from doesn’t determine where you’re going. He has watched his dad overcome adversity, work hard, serve others and never quit. That example has taught Xavion to believe in himself, put God first, work for what he wants and use his abilities to help others. He knows success isn’t just about what you accomplish, but the kind of man you become.
My proudest moments aren’t measured by points on a scoreboard. They’re the moments I see Xavion keep working when things are difficult, encourage someone else and refuse to give up. Watching him grow from a young boy who simply loved basketball into a disciplined young man who understands teamwork, responsibility and leadership makes me incredibly proud. The athlete he’s becoming is impressive, but the young man he’s becoming means even more.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
