What is Youth Athlete of the Year?
Learn MoreXylah loves the competition, but she loves the learning experience and networking even more. Some of her best memories have been with the people she's met along the way. Sports have also taught her confidence, discipline, and resilience. She loves competing while being part of something bigger than herself.
"On the field, my biggest inspiration is my own drive and love for the game—it pushes me to grow, compete, and never stop improving. Off the field, it's my mom. She's my biggest cheerleader, my best source of advice, and the person who taught me that compassion, integrity, and mental strength matter just as much as talent. She's the reason I strive to be a better athlete and an even better person."
Soccer can be a brutal sport, especially emotionally. Xylah is the player who makes friends with girls on the opposing team and is always the first to check on an injured player, whether they're wearing her jersey or not. Players with that kind of heart are becoming rare. No trophy or win could ever make me prouder than seeing her choose compassion in a game that doesn't always reward it.
