What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Learning something new. Zayn loves the challenge and competition during a game, and the way his team and coaches push him to be even better. The touchdowns are fun! But there’s nothing like putting in the work, and seeing it take shape on the field. I am the kicker for my football team among a few other positions and I find it thrilling when my team works together to win the game! But my absolute favorite? Hearing my mom yell from the sideline and cheer me on.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

My mom and dad inspire me the most. They push me to do my best and believe in me when I don’t believe in myself. If I make a mistake, I like to practice hard at home to learn from it. My mom and dad are always the first ones to go outside and practice my kicks, catches, and runs without hesitation. We have a saying that my mom says to me before every game or practice; “run fast, hit hard, and have fun!” She always says it while she ties my cleats. I love our ritual! Also, Cowboys kicker Aubrey!

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

I have to pick one? Being the kicker for my football team makes me the most proud. There’s a sense of satisfaction knowing that I can place the ball almost anywhere on the field, and that starts the game (or possession). I also play soccer, and usually have one of the hardest kicks. I like being able to incorporate a little soccer skill into football. It’s like I’m playing 2 of my favorite sports together! Just like Brandon Aubrey!
