What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Zayn loves everything about baseball. He’ll play any position, but catching and first base are his favorites. He even ends his nights reading the Baseball Encyclopedia. When asked what he loves most, he said, “Baseball is something you can always grow and learn. There is always something you can do to improve.” He loves that baseball is a team sport too, because everyone has to work together to win. He’s always the hype man in the dugout, cheering on his teammates and keeping them positive.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Zayn’s biggest inspiration is his dad. When Zayn fell in love with baseball, his dad didn’t know much about the game, but Zayn’s love made him want to learn too. They’ve grown in baseball together, always sending each other drills to try and learning new ways to improve. Zayn even waits on the porch for him to get home so they can practice. He loves having his dad as his third-base coach, and off the field they’re usually watching baseball or playing MLB The Show together.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Being named MVP of the Mustang Division All-Star Championship is something Zayn says he’ll remember forever. He went 3-for-3 with 5 RBIs and 2 runs, but what he remembers most is having a blast, giving it everything he had, and winning the championship with his team. Hearing the announcer say his name as MVP and everyone cheering for him was a dream come true. He also loves the pressure moments in a close game, stepping up to bat, and getting that big hit when his team needs him.
