Andrew loves the intensity and brotherhood of football, especially the adrenaline of firing off the line for a big tackle. In wrestling, he thrives on the one-on-one challenge and the mental toughness it builds. Track gives him a rush from pushing his speed and competing against the clock. Whether it’s a team effort or an individual test, he loves the drive, discipline, and excitement each sport brings.
Andrew is inspired by his family. Living with type 1 diabetes, he faces extra challenges. Whether helping him manage T1D or showing up to support him at every game, they’ve always been there for him. Their constant encouragement and love motivate him to give his all in everything he does. Knowing they’ll always have his back inspires him to stay strong, work hard, and never give up—on or off the field.
As his mom, I’m most proud of Andrew’s heart, grit, and sportsmanship. He’s always first to check on an injured player or lift up a teammate. One moment that stands out was early in his wrestling journey when he faced an undefeated opponent. Though outmatched, he never gave up and refused to be pinned. He lost, but his determination and fight showed true character—something you can’t teach.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
