What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

He loves the game of baseball because of how much it makes him think. He has such drive and focus when it comes to pitching and he loves to calculate what pitch needs to come next. He also loves playing the game with his teammates. He is one of the biggest supporters on the team and loves to cheer anyone up when they feel down.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

His sister. One of Garrett’s little sisters was diagnosed with a terminal genetic syndrome called Sanfilippo Syndrome when she was 3. It’s a form of childhood dementia. Garrett knows how much his sister goes through everyday and that’s why he always gives even practice all he has.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

The moment he hit his first Home run. Garrett has always struggled with his batting. He gets very frustrated with it but something just clicked with him this at bat and when he swung it was gone. He was so focused on getting to first base he didn’t even realize he had even hit it over the fence.
